Engineering works will affect TPE services as follows:

Sunday 1st March 2020

Trains will run from Cleethorpes to Doncaster, from where connections will be available to Sheffield by other operators. Trains from Sheffield - Manchester Piccadilly will be diverted via Huddersfield. Passengers for Stockport should change at Manchester Piccadilly. Rail replacement buses will be in operation between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport.

Sunday 8th March 2020

Monday 9th - Thursday 12th March 2020

2026 Cleethorpes to Manchester Airport will terminate at Manchester Piccadilly with a replacement coach provided forward to Manchester Airport.

Sunday 15th March 2020

Trains will be replaced by buses between Doncaster and Sheffield.

Sunday 22nd March 2020

Trains will run from Cleethorpes to Doncaster, from where rail replacement buses will operate to Sheffield. Trains from Sheffield - Manchester Piccadilly will be diverted via Huddersfield. Passengers for Stockport and Manchester Airport should change at Manchester Piccadilly.

2026 Cleethorpes to Manchester Airport will terminate at Manchester Piccadilly with a replacement coach provided forward to Manchester Airport.

Monday 18th, Tuesday 19th and Thursday 21st May 2020

2309 Cleethorpes to Manchester Airport will not run.

Wednesday 20th May 2020

2309 Cleethorpes to Manchester Piccadilly will not run.

For these services, a coach replacement will be provided from Cleethorpes (2309), Grimsby Town (2329), Habrough (2354), Barnetby (0009), Scunthorpe (0034), Doncaster (0124) to Sheffield (0204). A further coach will be provided from Sheffield (0220), Manchester Piccadilly (0358) to Manchester Airport (0423).

Tuesday 19th, Wednesday 20th and Friday 22nd May 2020

0253 Manchester Airport to Cleethorpes will not run.

Thursday 21st May 2020

0312 Manchester Airport to Cleethorpes will not run.

For these services, a coach replacement will be provided from Manchester Airport (0253), Manchester Piccadilly (0318) to Sheffield (0456). Another coach will be provided from Sheffield (0414), Doncaster (0454) to Scunthorpe (0544).

07:51 Manchester Airport - Cleethorpes will start from Manchester Piccadilly at 08:13. A Northern rail replacement bus will leave Manchester Airport at 06:50, arriving Piccadilly at 07:32.

23:09 Cleethorpes - Manchester Airport will call additionally at Huddersfield and terminate at Piccadilly at

I highly suspect that this will be further reduced so please check again if making essential journies. If not making essential journies then stay at home.

Sunday 14th June 2020

TPE trains will not stop at Meadowhall. Passengers for Meadowhall are advised to change at Sheffield Midland for Northern services towards Barnsley or the Supertram. An additional fare is payable for the latter.

On Wednesday 25th March 2020, the Rail Delivery Group added the following temporary easement to the National Routeing Guide:

" 700908 (Map) During engineering works on 22/03/2020 and 29/03/2020, customers travelling from Cleethorpes, Grimsby or Scunthorpe to Manchester or Manchester Airport may travel using Services between Sheffield and Huddesfield. This easement applies in both directions."

Tuesday 30th June 2020 - Friday 3rd July 2020

0253 Manchester Airport to Cleethorpes will not run. Replacement buses A replacement coach will be provided from Manchester Airport (0253) to Manchester Piccadilly (0318) and Sheffield (0456), connecting into the 05:21 Sheffield - Cleethorpes.

There will also be a replacement bus from Sheffield (04:14) to Doncaster (04:54) and Scunthorpe (05:44) with no onward connection.

Monday 13th July 2020 - Wednesday 15th July 2020

23:09 Cleethorpes - Manchester Piccadilly will not run.

Tuesday 14th July 2020 - Thurday 16th July 2020

03:10 Manchester Piccadilly - Cleethorpes will not run.

Monday 20th July 2020 - Thursday 24th July 2020

03:12 Manchester Piccadilly - Cleethorpes will leave Manchester Piccadilly 18 minutes earlier than usual at 02:53.

On the last entry, the arithmatic to get to 18 minutes was done by TPE, not myself. The alteration is not in the system yet so I cannot see which figure is a mistake.

Saturday 10th October 2020
2053 Manchester Airport to Cleethorpes will terminate at Sheffield.

All day on Sunday 11th October 2020 and early morning of Monday 12th October 2020, there will be no services between Doncaster and Cleethorpes. Services will run as scheduled between Manchester Airport and Doncaster only.

In response to a query from a member at the recent OGM, on Sundays 27th October - 11th October track renewal in the Kirk Sandall area neccesitated the closure of the line.

In my opinion, it is a shame that TPE traincrew at Cleethorpes and Sheffield don't sign the diversionary route via Carcroft and Adwick, which would have allowed a train service to run serving all the booked stations (bar Kirk Sandall on the last Saturday night eastbound service) with only a short increase in journey time.

On 11th October, when the disruption extended through to Cleethorpes, the pointwork at Marsh West Jn was renewed..

Saturday 3rd - Monday 5th April 2021

Due to renewal of Nunnery Main Line Junction, just outside Sheffield station, the Cleethorpes - Manchester Piccadilly service will be replaced by buses between Doncaster and Sheffield. Intending passengers should note that the Northern Saturdays only Cleethorpes - Sheffield via Brigg service remains suspended.

Monday 12th - Thursday 15th April 2021

The 20:18 Manchester Piccadilly - Cleethorpes will not call at Rotherham Central. Northern connections are available.

Saturday 17th - Sunday 18th April 2021

Due to engineering works south of Sheffield, the South TPE service will be split as follows:

Cleethorpes - Doncaster

Sheffield - Manchester Piccadilly via Huddersfield

There will be no direct service from Cleethorpes, Grimsby Town or Habrough to Manchester.

Passengers for Meadowhall and Sheffield should change at Doncaster.

Passengers for Manchester should change at Doncaster and Leeds.

Passengers for Stockport should change at Doncaster, Leeds and Manchester Piccadilly.

Passengers for Dore should change at Doncaster and at Sheffield for a replacement bus service forwards.

Due to planned capacity upgrade works in the Hope Valley, services from Cleethorpes, Grimsby Town and Habrough to Manchester will terminate at Doncaster. Connecting services are available from Doncaster to Sheffield, from where services will run to Manchester Piccadilly, diverted via Huddersfield.

20:26 Cleethorpes - Doncaster, booked Grimsby Town 20:34, Habrough 20:44 is cancelled. Replacement road transport has been requested.
21:49 Doncaster - Cleethorpes, booked Habrough 22:38, Grimsby Town 22:54, Cleethorpes 23:03 is cancelled. Replacement road transport has been requested.

A reminder that from Saturday 27th April until Wednesday 1st May TPE services from Cleethorpes, Grimsby Town and Habrough to Liverpool will be affected by capacity upgrade works in the Hope Valley.

On Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th April, an hourly service will run from Cleethorpes, Grimsby Town and Habrough to Doncaster. Northern and CrossCountry connections are available from Doncaster to Sheffield. From Sheffield, a 2 hourly rail service will run from Sheffield to Manchester Piccadilly diverted via Huddersfield and a 2 hourly replacement bus service will run from Sheffield to Manchester Piccadilly. EMR replacement buses will run from Sheffield to Stockport. Normal rail services resume from Manchester Oxford Road to Liverpool Lime Street.

From Monday 29th April until Wednesday 1st May, an hourly service will run from Cleethorpes, Grimsby Town and Habrough to Sheffield. From Sheffield, replacement bus services will run to Manchester Piccadilly. EMR replacement buses will run from Sheffield to Stockport. Normal rail services resume from Manchester Oxford Road to Liverpool Lime Street.

Barton Line, Brigg Line and Grimsby - Lincoln - Leicester services are not affected by these works and will run as normal.

On Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th October 2024, Transpennine Trains services, including those from Cleethorpes, Grimsby Town and Habrough to Doncaster, Sheffield, Manchester and Liverpool are likely to be subject to disruption due to severe weather. On Sunday 20th October 2024, services from Cleethorpes, Grimsby Town and Habrough to Liverpool Lime Street will terminate at Manchester Piccadilly. Alternative rail connections are available from Manchester Piccadilly, from where TPE services will run to Warrington Central. Replacement bus services will run from Warrington Central to Liverpool Lime Street.

Tickets purchased for travel from 7pm this evening (Monday 18 November) and all day tomorrow (Tuesday 19 November) will be valid on Wednesday (20 November) if customers wish to delay travelling in the face of freezing temperatures.
