EMR are currently proposing to restructure their Regional Railways timetable.
I have been asked for views on their proposed December timetable change, which features a large scale timetable recast across the majority of the EMR regional railways network. If any member or user have any comments on the below proposed changes, will you please get in touch by Friday 21st February so that I can collate responses.
Changes that will affect us are:
First Nottingham - Cleethorpes service is proposed to call at Stallingborough, Healing and Great Coates, giving an 08:00 arrival at Grimsby from the 3 villages. EMR did look at retiming this service to run a little earlier but an earlier departure from Lincoln would be a contract br
each.
The current 2 hourly Grimsby - Leicester service is proposed to be replaced by a 2 hourly Cleethorpes - Matlock service, giving a direct service to Derby once again. This service is proposed to call at New Clee and Grimsby Docks. Connections at Lincoln Central for Newark North Gate, Grantham, Peterborough and London Kings Cross are proposed to be significantly improved, with the majority of services in both directions having a connection time of around 10 minutes.
The Barton Line trains are proposed to be retimed to give improved connections at Habrough for TPE services. Grimsby Docks and New Clee stops are proposed to be removed from the majority of Barton Line trains to be replaced by calls on the Cleethorpes - Matlock service, this is to enable the Barton Line trains to have increased turnaround times, improving ability for the service to recover from delays. The first service from Barton will continue to serve both Grimsby Docks and New Clee. I have also asked that the 17:12 service from Cleethorpes to Barton calls at New Clee to accommodate the Grimsby Town football supporters on Saturdays and at Grimsby Docks to accommodate the commuters travelling to New Holland. This I am told is possible.
The last service from Cleethorpes to Barton proposed to to leave Cleethorpes slightly earlier at 20:56, and the last Barton - Cleethorpes also retimed earlier, this is to avoid timetable clashes on its return journey from Barton to Cleethorpes with the last Matlock - Cleethorpes, which is having to run later to maintain a connection from London at Lincoln. EMR have asked for the Kings Cross - Lincoln to be retimed to arrival at Lincoln by omitting the Grantham stop, citing other Kings Cross to Grantham services timed close to the Lincoln, this request has been denied.
