To celebrate World Art Day on Thursday 15 April, Northern are inviting budding artists in our communities to draw, paint, collage or sculpt what Northern (or trains) means to them. Winners will have their artwork displayed at locations across our network and will also win up to six free tickets for travel on our trains.

The competition is now open, with entries closing at 23.59 on Sunday 28 March, so if you know a friend or family member that might be interested in entering, please encourage them to take part.

The best artwork in three different categories will be chosen by local artist Alastair Nicholson, who has run community art projects across our network, including at Blackburn and Burnley Manchester Road stations.

The three categories are split by age and include:

·        11 and under

·        Under 18’s

·        Over 18.

Additionally, the FBL chairman has pledged an additional prize should somebody win the competition with an entry featuring a Barton Line replacement bus.
