LNER are consulting on their May 2022 revision.

They main proposal in out area is the plan to introduce a direct Cleethorpes - London Kings Cross via Lincoln service. This would leave Cleethorpes at 06:24 and Grimsby Town at 06:32 Mondays - Saturdays, arriving London Kings Cross at 09:25.

The northbound would leave London Kings Cross at 16:10, arriving Grimsby Town at 19:05 and Cleethorpes at 19:20.

On Sundays, there would only be a northbound service.

LNER are currently investigating the possibility of the services calling at additional stations between Grimsby and Lincoln.

The services from Kings Cross to Aberdeen, Inverness and Stirling are proposed to call additionally at Doncaster, which would bring these destinations within one change of Cleethorpes, Grimsby Town and Habrough.

I expect that the FBL response to this consultation will be discussed at the next meeting. However, please feel free to leave views, either in response to this post or by email to the chairman.

One observation that this writer will leave is that at 06:24 departure from Cleethorpes to London is too early for connections from Barton Line stations. However, if the 16:10 from Kings Cross were to stop at Habrough, it would provide a reasonable connection into the 19:23 departure to Barton, however the connection for passengers travelling to the west Grimsby villages and Grimsby suburban stations would be poor. This is a circle that would be almost impossible to square with only a two hourly Barton Line service.
